Description

Crispy on the outside and loaded with bold flavors inside, this Sausage and Cheese Stuffed Bread features spicy Italian sausage, melted pepper jack cheese, and garlic herb butter baked into a crusty French baguette. Perfect as a hearty appetizer, game-day snack, or satisfying family meal.

Ingredients

5 spicy Italian sausages

1 lb pepper jack cheese, cubed

1 French baguette

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

2 teaspoons chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and chili flakes until well mixed.
  3. Slice the French baguette lengthwise and hollow out some of the center, leaving sturdy edges to hold the filling.
  4. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously inside the bread and lightly over the outside crust.
  5. Fill the baguette with the cubed pepper jack cheese.
  6. Place the spicy Italian sausages on top of the cheese.
  7. Close the baguette securely and place it on the grill with the sausage side facing down.
  8. Cook for 20–25 minutes.
  9. Carefully flip the bread and continue grilling for another 10–15 minutes.
  10. Ensure the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  11. Let the stuffed bread rest for 3–4 minutes before slicing.
  12. Serve hot while the cheese is melted and gooey.

Notes

Substitute mozzarella for pepper jack for a milder flavor.

Use smoked sausage for a deeper smoky taste.

Add sautéed onions and bell peppers for extra texture and sweetness.

Mix shredded cheddar with the pepper jack for a cheesier filling.

Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the bread before grilling for added richness.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10–12 minutes to maintain a crispy texture.
